Method to Get Ranked Without Optimizing

One of my recent posts get ranked without optimizing; fluctuating ranks from fourth to eight, and has almost always stayed on the first page ever since I wrote it. Being a writer, I am not very well versed with how SEO works but I know how to engage my audience, and I did. Engaging the audience through content writing, I believe, was the crucial factor that has fetched this much traffic to my blog.

As more and more focus is being made to SEO content writing, it often slips the blogger’s mind that he is writing for humans and not bots! The last time I checked, bots aren’t the one who would pay you; better write for an audience.

Because SEO is so mainstream these days then you can think how to get ranked without optimizing, I felt like the quality of posts is deteriorating subsequently. Thus, I felt it was incumbent to reach my fellow writers and encourage quality content writing instead.

Here, I have curated a list of things I generally do and have been doing to rank my blogs. The tricks are my own – to get ranked without optimizing learned through experience and developed over time – and work wonders for me every single time.

I do what I do

If I feel like writing on fashion, I write fashion, and when I feel like writing on technology, I write on AI (Artificial Intelligence).

Writing what you feel like writing is important. You cannot think about engaging readers with your writing when you are not engaged yourself. Also, I do not bias myself too much with keyword-specific articles. I know I can place keywords somewhere or the other without making them look like stuffed deliberately.

Dichotomy – unique but inspired

SEO tells you to write unique content, but one that is inspired by those on top.

How is something supposed to be derived and yet unique? This dichotomy!

SEO-wise it makes sense to research keywords or topics, and incorporate something similar in your articles. Or go a step further and copy the entire blog with few tweaks in the vocabulary. Even if this scheme yields result, you won’t remain on top for long. Users are not as silly as we think, and would sooner or later – generally sooner – find out which one of the two (you and the one you copied referred from) is the credible source.

Renounce bragging

Writing a modest language is key. While writing, bear in mind that the same content should make as much sense to a professor as it makes to a high-school student.

Denounce jargons, or bragging your doctorate too much in your blog. The aim is to retain as many visitors as you can on your website, and to eventually improve the overall CTR (click-through rate). This can be achieved by writing excerpts that appeal to a wider group than writing for a skeleton crew.

To brief, write plain and do not boast too much. Who knows, your Professor could be the one reading your article.

Keep fonts basic

Cursive writing looks good on notebooks and greetings.

Blogs and newspapers tend to have such basic fonts so as to make it easy enough to be understood with just one look. Moreover, you would probably want visitors to be reading stories, rather than wandering about fonts.

Times New Roman is one such font that many publishers have relied on for decades. Though using easy and distinguishable font is not a draconian code, the last thing you would want for your blog is to look like ‘Confidential CIA files’.

A catchy-meta is a must

The initial years in my writing career were spent inside a data centre, wherein I wrote manuals for dedicated server hosting and other hosting services they offered. The articles I wrote then were majorly for our own website, which, though famous and informative, ranked nowhere within the first three pages.

Unknowingly, our meta descriptions were too mainstream and off-putting rather than luring. It is at that moment we realized the importance of having a good meta.

A meta description is the first point of contact between a blog and its visitors. It is thus imperative to write a brief meta that compels attention in a blink.

Optimize what you write

Google modifies its search algorithmsmore frequently than we think. Every now and then,new codes are either added or jettisoned to make searches simpler and yet advanced so there is a chance to get ranked without optimizing .

You may never know the changes that have been implemented until your website plunges by a few rankings overnight. However, with what is clear, quality contents have always been ranked higher, and Google is in constant search for in-depth, high-quality articles to display to its users. As algorithms become increasingly advanced, the search engine has become smarter in understanding the context of the blog.

A detailed, informative, and high-quality content will prove to be more rewarding in the long-run than cheap SEO techniques. Thus, search engines rankings in the future could be based solely on content-quality, and SEO could be scrapped off completely.
